Introduction

Indian Sugar industry, second largest agro-based processing industry after the Cotton textiles industry in country, has a lion's share in accelerating industrialization process and bringing socio-economic charges in under developed rural area. Sugar industry covers around 73% of total rural population and provides employment to 5 lacs rural people. Sugar has been an important commodity historically due to a variety of factors, including the human appetite for sweet foods and drinks, the complementarily that sugar brings to the other flavors in food, its preservation and fermentation properties, and the calories it provides.

Bhairavnath Sugar Works Limited is an integrated conglomerate primarily engaged in the manufacture of sugar and allied products. The Company commenced its first commercial production in 2008-09 at Sonari (Unit I) by setting up a 2500 TCD Sugar plant. Now the plant has installed crushing capacity of 3500 TCD. Beside this plant the Company has set up 2500 TCD new Sugar plant at Vihal (Unit II) in 2011-12 and has also set up another 2500 TCD Sugar Plant at Lavangi (Unit III) in 2013-14. The company has also co- generation plant at Sonari, Vihal and Lavangi unit. The aggregate power generation capacity of all three cogeneration power plants is put together 41 MW.

To expand business operations, company has entered into Collaboration Agreement with Shivshakti Shetkari Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd, Washi, Dist. Osmanabad (Unit IV) having installed capacity of 1250 TCD in 2012-13. Further, the company has increased the installed capacity of this plant to 2500 TCD and running the same from year 2013-14. Further, the Company has purchased 2500 TCD new Sugar plant at Alegaon (Unit V) in 2017-18. Now, the aggregate sugarcane licensed/ installed capacity of 12250 TCD and power generation capacity of all co-generation power plants put together is 53.5 MW.

The Company has used innovative technology in the form of “Distributed Control Systems” to help automise the plant to a great extent for its Lavangi Unit. This automation has been effected to Boiler, Turbine, Pans areas.

Bhairavnath is today a fast-growing industrial group with a strong presence in diversified fields such as sugar manufacturing, power and ethanol/industrial alcohol production.

Dr. Tanaji Jayawant Sawant is an Electrical Engineer from Government College of Engineering Karad (Maharashtra). He has started his carrier in the field of education i.e. as a lecturer in Elect. Engg. at Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engg. Pune.

In the year of 1990 he has started construction activity by incorporating company in the name of M/s. Giriraj Promoters Private Limited. In the year of 1998 he has registered his own charitable Trust namely '' Jayawant Shikshan Prasarak Mandal''. Meanwhile in 2001 he has started his first professional Institute namely Rajarshi Shahu College of Engg. at Tathawade, Pune. He has opened six campuses in & around the Pune city & having near about 50 independent Institutes & total 58 Courses in different Institutes from 2001 to 2011. He has also established number of primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in Pune District.

Being member of farmer family, he has knowledge of problems faced by farmers and keeping all those things in mind he has entered into agricultural industrial activity in the year of 2006-07. He has started his activity with the name & style of “Bhairavnath Sugar Works Limited”. Under this activity he has started a sugar factory at Sonari, Tal. Paranda, Dist. Osmanabad (Unit I) & at Vihal, Tal. Karamala, Dist. Solapur (Unit II) both are at Maharashtra.

He has also entered into Collaboration Agreement in 2013 for running sugar factory with Shivshakti Shetkari Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd, Washi, Dist. Osmanabad (Unit IV) having installed capacity of 1250 TCD in 2012-13. He has also started one more unit at Lavangi, Tal. Mangalvedha, Dist. Solapur, (Unit III) during the year 2013-14.In addition to this he has purchased 2500 TCD new Sugar plant at Alegaon (Unit V) in 2017-18.

Now the Bhairavnath Sugar Works Limited, the pioneers in manufacturing of sugar and allied products. In addition to sugar manufacturing, the company also has facility for co-generation at its Sonari, Vihal and Lavangi Plants.

Mr. Tanaji Sawant believed that rural upliftment is necessary for the development of the nation and the poor section of the society. He has a dream to help the farmers and their childrens, so he thought to start a co-operative bank. He thought to keep the money of farmers safe and to open the few doors of job to their children, so that he established “Jayawant Multi-State Co-Operative Society”.

A Remarkable Journey:

Bhairavnath Sugar Works Limited was incorporate vide certificate of incorporation no. 25-14725 dated 4th April, 2000 with Registrar of Companies, Maharashtra at Pune.

The Company has been promoted by Mr. Tanaji Jayawant Sawant with the main object of carrying out the activity of production of sugar and other sugar related activities. The Company commenced its first commercial production in 2008-09 at Sonari, Tal. Paranda, Dist. Osmanabad. The original capacity of the factory was 2500 TCD. Subsequently, this capacity was increased in stage and is currently 3500 TCD. Beside this plant the Company has set up 2500 TCD new Sugar plant at Vihal, Tal. Karmala, Dist. Solapur in 2011-12 and has also set up another 2500 TCD Sugar Plant at Lavangi, Tal. Mangalvedha, Dist. Solapur, in 2013-14.
